Raising a New Generation of Ethical African Leaders
This is a five-month online leadership formation fellowship designed for young and emerging professionals across Africa who are passionate about ethical influence, institutional leadership, and societal transformation.
Founded by Joseph Chineneyze Ibekwe, the Fellowship is built on decades of leadership development, institution building, media engagement, governance education, and youth formation.
The Fellowship exists to help shape a new generation of African professionals who are not only ambitious, but responsible; not only successful, but transformational.

To provide a rigorous and reflective leadership formation experience that equips young and emerging professionals with the values, mindset, systems thinking, and public responsibility required for meaningful leadership in Africa and beyond.
What Makes JIFP Different
The Joseph Ibekwe Fellowship Program is not a motivational seminar series or a generic online leadership course.
It is a carefully designed leadership formation experience focused on:
- character,
- ethics,
- systems thinking,
- institutional leadership,
- public responsibility,
- communication,
- and legacy.
The Fellowship draws insight from the emerging Fledism Leadership Philosophy — a leadership philosophy that emphasizes stewardship, institution building, ecosystem thinking, moral responsibility, and transformational societal contribution.
At JIFP, leadership is viewed not merely as personal advancement, but as a responsibility to build systems, shape institutions, and contribute meaningfully to society
Fellowship Admission Philosophy
Admission into the Joseph Ibekwe Fellowship Program is competitive and highly selective.
The Fellowship is not primarily looking for the most popular, most connected, or most accomplished applicants.
We are seeking individuals, ages 25-35, who demonstrate:
- leadership potential,
- ethical consciousness,
- intellectual curiosity,
- reflective depth,
- commitment to societal contribution,
- and the willingness to grow.
Successful applicants are selected based on both potential for future impact, and alignment with the values and philosophy of the Fellowship.
Who Can Apply
Applications are open to young and emerging professionals across Africa working or aspiring to work in areas such as:
- public leadership,
- governance,
- entrepreneurship,
- media,
- education,
- development,
- technology,
- policy,
- civil society,
- faith-based leadership
- and social impact.
Applicants are typically expected to:
- demonstrate leadership promise,
- possess strong communication and reflective abilities,
- show commitment to ethical leadership and societal transformation,
- and be willing to actively participate throughout the six-month fellowship experience.
Fellowship Support Structure
The Joseph Ibekwe Fellowship Program is intentionally designed to make transformational leadership development accessible while maintaining the quality and seriousness of the Fellowship experience.
Selected Fellows may be admitted under one of the following categories:
Sponsored Fellows
These Fellows receive substantial or full fellowship sponsorship support based on merit, leadership potential, and financial need.
Partially Supported Fellows
These Fellows receive partial scholarship support and contribute a subsidized Fellowship Participation Contribution toward the program.
Institutional or Executive Fellows
Organizations, institutions, or sponsors may nominate and support emerging leaders to participate in the Fellowship.
Fellowship Participation Contribution
While the Fellowship receives sponsorship and institutional support, selected Fellows may be required to make a modest Fellowship Participation Contribution depending on their admission category.
This contribution helps support:
- learning resources,
- digital learning infrastructure,
- fellowship operations,
- mentorship engagement,
- and program sustainability.
The Fellowship remains committed to ensuring that financial limitations do not prevent exceptional and deserving candidates from participating.
What Fellows Receive
Participants admitted into the Fellowship will gain access to:
- a six-month structured leadership formation experience,
- live online masterclasses and leadership conversations,
- mentorship and peer engagement,
- curated leadership resources and readings,
- reflective leadership exercises,
- capstone development support,
- and a growing pan-African network of emerging ethical leaders.
Upon successful completion, participants are formally recognized as:

Selection Process
The Fellowship selection process may include:
- online application,
- personal statement,
- leadership reflection essay,
- reference submission,
- and virtual interview.
Selection decisions are based on:
- leadership potential,
- alignment with fellowship values,
- reflective depth,
- contribution mindset,
- and readiness for transformational engagement.

Send in a Personal Statement of not more than 200 words, describing why this program is important to you and how participating in it will help meet your personal and/or professional goals.
Send two reference letters, that affirm your suitability to undertake the Fellows Program.
