Who should apply?
Individuals in private and public institutions who seek to deepen their knowledge on public leadership and governance. Must possess a minimum of first degree or HND in any discipline.
Introduction
Political leadership requires a great deal of artistry. Given the complexity of society in the 21st century, aspiring political leaders at any level must learn to deal with these complexities and drive society towards sustainable development and stability. Emerging political leaders must understand the unfolding trends as well as be equipped with requisite political skills to navigate the contours of public leadership in a diverse world.
Program Description
Leadership for Public Governance (LPG) is designed to broaden the visionary capacity of emerging leaders – men and women – who want who to pursue long term career in public Politics, and to prepare them for in-depth public leadership roles. This dynamic Course has a balanced mix of theoretical interrogations and pragmatic focus on practical leadership challenges, drawing from past and contemporary global examples.
Participants will learn to build personal leadership competencies and understand how to manage diversity as emerging visionary leaders.

Leadership learning programs, courses, and activities are designed for a broad yet specific range of students and learners in diverse communities. Individuals, professionals, groups, teams, communities, and organizations need skills, knowledge, and ability to pursue their careers, professions, and be inspired to pursue purposes, succeed, and remain competitive.
Overall Learning Objectives
“Learners’ will accomplish any or a combination of the following objectives upon completion of the programme.
- Identify the emerging conceptual dynamics of leadership in the 21st century
- Explain and apply the principles of transformative leadership in their work places
- Describe how leaders create and sustain Organizational Culture
- Develop enhanced capacity to engage in Systems and Scenario Thinking processes
- Recognize key components of Strategic communications and how to apply them in leadership situations
- Explain how to manage Diversity for sustainable development
- Be able to apply Entrepreneurial skills in Leadership
- Be able to conduct Social Impact Analysis and apply the result in development planning and projects.
- Develop capacity to engage in practical mentorship exercise
The Course has five key components:
Theoretical Course work – Candidates are required to attend online class sessions, take notes and participate actively.
Concepts Study/Seminar Presentation – Candidates are required to conduct in-depth study of a few concepts, prepare a paper on one topic, and make presentation for assessment.
Mentoring Engagement – Candidates are engaged in practical mentorship assignment for a period of 3 months as part of the program.
Social Impact Project – The Class is expected to organize and implement a social impact project that demonstrates their commitment to social responsibility.
Study Tour/Field Trip – Students are expected to participate in study of a government or private institution in Nigeria or outside. Details of cost implication for the tour will be made available upon registration.

Mentorship Engagement: Participants will have mentees attached to them or be attached to mentors for a period of 3 months. The Mentorship arrangement will be evaluated by the Institute using our Mentorship Evaluation Template.
