Call For Applications: Joseph Ibekwe Mentorship Program for young people at Fled Institute

Applications Deadline: January 31, 2025 10:00 am (WAT)

Who Should Apply: Young people, ages 18-25 years, with minimum of Senior School Certificate.

Program Venue & Dates: Online and Onsite.

The Joseph Ibekwe Mentorship Program is part of Project 10X which seeks to mentor 10,000 young African leaders over the next 10 years. Each Cohort of the Program takes participants through a mixed learning experience in leadership development, digital skills, and community engagement for a period of 10 months.

The program is anchored on goal 4 of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that talks about inclusive and equitable quality education and promote life-long learning opportunities for all. The program will focus on life skills development and lifelong learning for youths.

 AIMS OF THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, to:

  • Introduce Mentees to the principles and practice of transformational public leadership.
  • Shape understanding on community participation and public leadership opportunities, challenges, and how to navigate the public space.
  • Build personal and digital skills for effective engagement and income generation.

The Mentees will meet online for a series of topic-based workshops and informal gatherings to exchange written materials including articles and feature interviews.

The online platforms will keep the Mentees connected, giving them the opportunity to share experiences across cultures and geographies. Mentees will benefit from the guidance and skills to explore new approaches to dealing with real life public issues of the day.

PROGRAM DETAILS:

  • February  – October 2025 (monthly online meetings)
  • Special Personality Visits
  • Group Social Impact Projects
  • November 7-13, 2025 (in-person program in Abuja)
  • Graduation November 12, 2025
  • On-going network engagement thereafter

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED? 

Successful applicants will be required to attend 2-3 hours of online meetings over a period of 10 months.  This will be followed by an in-person meeting in Abuja, November 7-13, 2025. The in-person meeting will build on the work conducted online. 

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM COST?

The costs of the Program will be borne by Fled Foundation, Fled Institute, Friends & Partners of Dr. Joseph Ibekwe, and The Joseph Coaching International. However, participants will be required to buy the books associated with the mentoring program and partly bear the cost for a one-week stay in Abuja, November 7-13, 2025.

HOW WILL PARTICIPANTS BE SELECTED?

Applications will be reviewed by the staff of Fled Institute. The selection will be carefully made to ensure diversity of gender, geography and life situations. Participants will be selected from across Nigeria and beyond.

Send letter of attestation from Parent or Guardian, affirming suitability to participate in the Mentorship Program.
