FLED Group Africa (FGA), a family of social enterprise organizations committed to promoting human development in Africa through leadership education and enterprise development, will mark its 30th Anniversary with a high-level Anniversary Symposium on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Symposium, themed “Public Leadership Has Private Consequences,” will bring together leaders from government, business, academia, and civil society to reflect on the personal and institutional responsibilities of public leadership, and how decisions made in public life affect private realities.

For three decades, FLED Group Africa has been a pioneering force in nurturing ethical, competent, and visionary leaders across the continent. Through its network of institutions, FGA has trained and mentored thousands of emerging and mid-career professionals who are redefining public service, governance, and enterprise in Africa.

In a statement announcing the anniversary, Rev. (Prof) Joseph Chinenyeze Ibekwe, President of FLED Group Africa, said:

“For 30 years, FLED has stood as a catalyst for responsible leadership in Africa. This Symposium is both a celebration and a moment of reflection. Leadership is not about power, but about service—and every public act carries private consequences.”

The Symposium will feature panel sessions, and reflections from FLED Fellows, policymakers, development partners, and thought leaders. It will also highlight the achievements of the Group’s institutions:

FLED International Leadership Institute (FILI): advancing graduate leadership education and public policy innovation.

FLED Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd: promoting thrift, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurship.

FLED Foundation: fostering civic responsibility, and building leadership capacities of youths and young people 🌱

Africa Centre for Public Leadership (ACPL): promoting the principles and practice of transformational public leadership in Africa.

Future World Magazine:* sharing development information and leadership best practices across Africa.

As part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, FLED Group Africa will also launch the FLED Endowment and Enterprise Fund (FEEF) — a strategic initiative to ensure the Group’s long-term financial sustainability and expand its investments in leadership education, social innovation, and enterprise development.
